Leah Awitan is a Healing with Horses equine specialist. She has been a financial manager for Thick As Thieves Global consulting firm for over fifteen years. She also holds a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Texas, Austin. Ms. Awitan has been a horse owner with over ten years of equine experience. She is bi-lingual and is EAGALA certified. She is a mother of two and an accomplished, published photographer.
Adrienne Pankowski is a Healing with Horses equine specialist. She holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology-Behavioral Science from Wilmington University. Adrienne has served as a mentor to young girls, coaching basketball and working after school programs. She enjoys riding horses in her off time but it is Adrienne’s compassion and desire to help our youth in their recovery through equine assisted psychotherapy that makes her the perfect fit. Ms. Pankowski is EAGALA certified.
Shannon Ayres LPCMH, NCC
Shannon Ayres is a Licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health and just recently retired from the Delaware Air National Guard as a C-130 pilot. After graduating from Wilmington University’s graduate program in Community Counseling, Shannon worked at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital and Ministry of Caring as a mental health counselor. Shannon is currently pursuing certification as an equine specialist by completing the Equine-Assisted Growth And Learning Association (EAGALA) training in June. Shannon specializes in treating trauma, PTSD, depression, and anxiety.
Colleen Chambers is a Healing With Horses Equine Specialist who brings a lifetime of experience with horses to this position. She was a former professional standardbred racehorse trainer with over $2 million in training wins, and is an avid equestrian who has trained off-track-thoroughbreds to careers as hunter/jumper, event and dressage disciplines. She has been the racebook supervisor at Harrah’s Philadelphia for the last year and a half. Colleen holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from North Carolina State University (93), and is presently in the process of becoming EAGALA certified. Colleen is enthusiastic about the benefits of Equine Assisted therapy and passionate about sharing her love of horses with the community.
